De Amicis y su novela Sull’Oceano: 140 años de un viaje por la ruta de los emigrantes italianos hacia Argentina y Uruguay (1884-2024)

Abstract

The author highlights the value of Edmondo de Amicis’ novel as a written testimony, unique in Italian literature, of the epic transoceanic voyages of compatriots migrating to the Americas in the second half of the 19th century. The strong social bent of the testimony, written in the first person by the author, make it a true “social novel” that effectively reverberates in the informational and cultural context of Italy contemporary to him.El autor destaca el valor de la novela de Edmondo de Amicis como testimonio escrito, único en la literatura italiana, de los épicos viajes transoceánicos de los compatriotas que emigraron a América en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX. La fuerte propensión social del testimonio, escrito en primera persona por el autor, la convierte en una verdadera «novela social» que reverbera eficazmente en el contexto informativo y cultural de la Italia contemporánea.L’autore evidenzia il valore del romanzo di Edmondo de Amicis quale testimonianza scritta, unica nella letteratura italiana, dell’epopea dei viaggi transoceanici dei connazionali migranti verso le Americhe nella seconda metà dell’Ottocento. La forte propensione sociale della testimonianza, redatta in prima persona dall’autore, ne fa un vero e proprio “romanzo sociale” che si riverbera efficacemente nel contesto informativo e culturale dell’Italia a lui contemporanea
