Acceptance of AI as a Tool for Diagnosis and Treatment Planning in the Eyes of Patients in the Czech Republic

Abstract

This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the attitudes of patients in the Czech Republic toward the use of artificial intelligence as a tool for medical diagnostics. The aim of the thesis was to analyze the level of acceptance of AI, identify factors influencing its adoption, and map the main concerns and expectations of patients. The research was conducted through a quantitative questionnaire survey involving 183 respondents. The results show that most patients perceive artificial intelligence positively, primarily as a supportive tool that increases the speed and accuracy of diagnostics, but not as a replacement for physicians. At the same time, concerns related to potential errors, technical failures, data protection, and the loss of human interaction were identified. The thesis confirms that trust in physicians, system transparency, and professional supervision play a key role in the acceptance of AI in healthcare.Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá postoji pacientů v České republice k využívání umělé inteligence jako nástroje pro lékařskou diagnostiku. Cílem práce bylo analyzovat míru akceptace AI, identifikovat faktory ovlivňující její přijetí a zmapovat hlavní obavy a očekávání pacientů. Výzkum byl realizován formou kvantitativního dotazníkového šetření, kterého se zúčastnilo 183 respondentů. Výsledky ukazují, že většina pacientů vnímá umělou inteligenci pozitivně, zejména jako podpůrný nástroj zvyšující rychlost a přesnost diagnostiky, nikoliv však jako náhradu lékaře. Současně se objevují obavy spojené s chybovostí, technickými selháními, ochranou osobních údajů a ztrátou lidského přístupu.
