Analysis of the Characteristics of Artwork and Individualised Approach to the Student

Abstract

Ovaj diplomski rad bavi se istraživanjem utjecaja individualiziranog pristupa u nastavi Likovne kulture na motivaciju, kreativnost i kvalitetu likovnih radova učenika trećih razreda osnovne škole. Individualizirani pristup pritom uključuje prilagodbu sadržaja, slobodu izbora materijala i tehnike, te dodatnu podršku učitelja. Osim utjecaja na učenike, istraživanje je obuhvatilo i ispitivanje stavova učitelja o primjeni individualiziranih strategija u praksi. U teorijskom dijelu rada obrađeni su temeljni pojmovi vezani uz razvoj dječjeg likovnog izraza, značaj Likovne kulture za cjeloviti razvoj djeteta, uloga učitelja u likovnom odgoju te načela individualizacije. Poseban naglasak stavljen je na važnost prepoznavanja i uvažavanja individualnih razlika među učenicima, što se u praksi očituje kroz fleksibilnije nastavne metode i sadržaje. Empirijski dio istraživanja proveden je u dva paralelna treća razreda osnovne škole. U jednom razredu nastava je održana na uobičajen način, dok je u drugom primijenjen individualizirani pristup. Istraživanje se temeljilo na sadržajno-formalnoj analizi obilježja likovnih radova, evaluacijskim listićima učenika te anketi za učitelje. Ukupno je prikupljeno i analizirano 29 učeničkih radova. Rezultati pokazuju da učenici kojima je omogućena sloboda izbora likovne tehnike te pružena dodatna podrška pokazali su više detalja i osobnog izraza, dok su radovi učenika bez individualiziranog pristupa češće bili šablonski. Evaluacijskim listićima učenici su iskazali pozitivne reakcije na individualizirani pristup, iako neki preferiraju strukturirane upute. Učiteljice prepoznaju vrijednost ovog pristupa, ali ističu prepreke u njegovoj provedbi, a posebice nedostatak vremena i velik broj učenika u razredima. Zaključno, rezultati ovog rada ukazuju na to da primjena individualiziranog pristupa u nastavi Likovne kulture potiče izražajnije i osobnije učeničke radove, povećava motivaciju učenika te otvara prostor za suvremenije poučavanje usmjereno na učenika. Naime, kako je i u relevantnoj literaturi navedeno, učinkovita i kreativna nastava temelji se na ravnoteži između metodičkog pristupa učitelja i samostalnog izražavanja učenika, pri čemu je uloga učitelja ključna za osobni razvoj svakog učenika.This thesis explores the impact of an individualized approach in Visual Arts education on the motivation, creativity, and quality of artwork produced by third-grade primary school students. The individualized approach includes adapting content, allowing freedom in the choice of materials and techniques, and providing additional teacher support. In addition to examining the effects on students, the research also investigates teachers’ attitudes toward implementing individualized strategies in practice. The theoretical part of the thesis addresses key concepts related to the development of children's artistic expression, the importance of Visual Arts for the holistic development of the child, the teacher’s role in art education, and the principles of individualization. Emphasis is placed on the importance of recognizing and respecting individual differences among students, reflected in more flexible teaching methods and content. The empirical part of the research was conducted in two parallel third-grade classes. One class followed the traditional teaching method, while the other applied an individualized approach. The study relied on content-formal analysis of student artworks, student evaluation sheets, and a teacher questionnaire. A total of 29 student works were collected and analyzed. Results show that students given freedom of choice and additional support demonstrated more detailed and personally expressive work, while students without individualized instruction produced more stereotypical artworks. Evaluation sheets revealed that most students reacted positively to the individualized approach, although some preferred structured guidance. Teachers recognized the value of this approach but highlighted challenges in its implementation, particularly time constraints and large class sizes. In conclusion, the findings suggest that implementing an individualized approach in Visual Arts education encourages more expressive and personal student work, increases student motivation, and promotes contemporary, student-centered teaching. As supported by relevant literature, effective and creative teaching relies on balancing teacher guidance with opportunities for student autonomy, where the teacher plays a key role in each student’s personal development
