Da literatura homossexual à literatura LGBT: projetos editoriais na abertura política e alguns de seus antecedentes (1985-2009)

Abstract

Considerando a escassez de dados historiográficos sobre o mercado editorial brasileiro e da história do Movimento LGBT, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a edição de livros LGBT no Brasil entre 1985 e 2009, período marcado pela redemocratização e por transformações sociopolíticas significativas para a comunidade. A pesquisa também apresenta o resgate e a análise de iniciativas editoriais anteriores a esse recorte, buscando compreender a genealogia dessas práticas culturais. Para tanto, por meio de uma triangulação metodológica: pesquisas hemerográficas, entrevistas de história oral e análises documentais, foi realizada uma reconstrução historiográfica e sociológica que apresenta os desafios de ordem política, social e econômica para a entrada e desenvolvimento da literatura homossexual/LGBT no país, destacando iniciativas pioneiras que, até então, não haviam sido analisadas em profundidade. Ao lançar luz sobre essas experiências, identificamos que houve esforços de agentes editoriais na criação de editoras, selos, e/ou coleções dedicadas especificamente a essa temática, ampliando o conceito de edição política e viabilizando uma esfera pública de ativismo por meio da literatura. Ao todo, mapeamos quatro editoras exclusivas; três coleções e quatro selos em editoras de variados tamanhos e atuações.Given the scarcity of historiographical data on the Brazilian publishing market and the history of the LGBT Movement, this study aims to analyze the publication of LGBT-themed books in Brazil between 1985 and 2009—a period marked by redemocratization and significant sociopolitical transformations for the community. The research also includes the recovery and analysis of earlier editorial initiatives, in an effort to understand the genealogy of these cultural practices. To this end, through a methodological triangulation—hemerographic research, oral history interviews, and documentary analysis—a historiographical and sociological reconstruction was carried out to highlight the political, social, and economic challenges involved in the emergence and development of homosexual/LGBT literature in the country. By shedding light on these experiences, we identified efforts by editorial agents to create publishing houses, imprints, and/or collections specifically dedicated to this theme, thereby expanding the notion of political publishing and enabling a public sphere of activism through literature.
