Abstract

The residential areas of Yogyakarta City cause environmental problems. Based on the letter issued by the Mayor of Yogyakarta Number 158 of 2021, there are 273 hectares of slum areas in the City of Yogyakarta. This situation is an important concern for the Yogyakarta City Government and the Yogyakarta City Public Works and Residential Areas Department to reduce environmental problems in slum areas. The author's aim in writing this journal is to find out the role of the Yogyakarta City Housing and Settlement Area Public Works Department in maintaining environmental quality through the arrangement of Yogyakarta City settlements. The empirical legal research method is a legal research method that focuses on social facts. The role of the Yogyakarta City Housing and Settlement Area Public Works Department in maintaining environmental quality through Yogyakarta City Settlement Arrangement is very large.
