Sensibilidad auditiva de estudiantes de ingreso de las Facultades de Ciencias Económicas y Administrativas e Ingenierías de la Universidad de Sucre, periodo 2024-II

Abstract

Objective: To determine the auditory sensitivity of incoming students of the faculties of Engineering and Economic and Administrative Sciences of the University of Sucre in the period 2024-II, with the purpose of identifying possible variations in the auditory perception of students of both faculties.  Material and methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in students of the faculty of engineering and the faculty of economic and administrative sciences in the first semester of the year 2024-II. The hearing screening form authorized by the University of Sucre was used. The universe population was 357 students who were selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The database was consolidated in Microsoft Excel and analyzed in the same program. Statistical analysis included description of the data using percentages and measures of central tendency. Results: 5.88% (21) of the students evaluated were found to have slightly decreased hearing threshold and 94.11% (336), had normal hearing. Conclusions:  Most of the students of the faculty of engineering and the faculty of economic sciences did not present alteration in their hearing capacity, suggesting that in general, they enjoy good hearing health.Objetivo: Determinar la sensibilidad auditiva de los estudiantes de ingreso de las facultades de ingeniería y Ciencias Económicas y Administrativas de la Universidad de Sucre en el periodo 2024-II, con el propósito de identificar posibles variaciones en la percepción auditiva de los estudiantes de ambas facultades.  Material y métodos: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal; en estudiantes de la facultad de ingeniería y la facultad de ciencias económicas y administrativas de primer semestre del año 2024 -II. Se utilizó el formato de tamizaje auditivo autorizado por la universidad de Sucre. La población universo fue de 357 estudiantes los cuales se seleccionaron con base en los criterios de inclusión y exclusión. La base de datos se consolidó en Microsoft Excel y se analizó en este mismo programa. El análisis estadístico incluyó descripción de los datos usando porcentajes y medidas de tendencia central. Resultados: Se encontró que el 5.88% (21) de los estudiantes evaluados presentaron leve disminución del umbral auditivo y el 94.11% (336), presentaron audición normal. Conclusiones:  La mayoría de los estudiantes de la facultad de ingeniería y la facultad de ciencias económicas no presentaron alteración en su capacidad auditiva, lo que sugiere que en general, gozan de una buena salud auditiva
