The Room jako interpretacja bohatera werterycznego

Abstract

The Wertherian hero is a character created by Johann Wolfgang Goethe in his 1774 novel The Sorrows of Young Werther. Thus, the young artist inspired subsequent artists, to create the figure of the romantic hero, and encouraged the expression of feelings through art. The purpose of this article is to show that the Wertherian hero, despite the passage of decades, is still evident in contemporary art. To this end, the author discusses the characteristics of the aforementioned hero, and then analyzes the main character of Tommy Wiseau’s 2003 film The Room.Bohater werteryczny to postać wykreowana przez Johanna Wolfganga Goethego w powieści Cierpienia młodego Wertera z 1774 roku. Tym samym młody artysta zainspirował kolejnych twórców do stworzenia postaci bohatera romantycznego, a także zachęcił do wyrażania uczuć poprzez sztukę. Celem niniejszego artykułu, jest ukazanie, że bohater werteryczny mimo upływu dekat nadal jest widoczny we współczesnej twórczości. W tym celu autorka omawia cechy wspomnianego bohatera, a następnie poddaje analizie głównego bohatera filmu The Room Tommyego Wiseau z 2003 roku
