O Espírito Santo na cultura visual religiosa moderna: símbolos e linguagens pneumatográficos

Abstract

This article describes, analyzes, and interprets modern symbols and visual languages of the iconography of the Holy Spirit or pneumatography. The objects of the research are paintings with the motifs of the Trinity and Pentecost with the symbolic elements of the dove and flames, as a poster of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and the art of the Sixth International Congress of Theology of the Postgraduate Program in Theology of PUC-Curitiba. In dialogue with Erwin Panofsky\u27s iconological method and with consideration of modern compositional aspects such as perspective and emblem, pneumatographic languages of the modern period are presented. It can be concluded that in this period, which begins with the Renaissance and ends with the late modern period, there are both reaffirmations and re-readings of the previous pneumatographic canon, largely medieval, partly from Antiquity, which generally involve the stability of motifs, elements and gestures, alongside the alteration of compositions and the portrayed and suggested gazes.Este artigo descreve, analisa e interpreta símbolos e linguagens visuais modernos da iconografia do Espírito Santo ou pneumatografia. Os objetos da pesquisa são pinturas com motivos da Trindade e de Pentecostes com os elementos simbólicos da pomba e das chamas como um cartaz da Renovação Carismática Católica e a arte do Sexto Congresso Internacional de Teologia do Programa de Pós-graduação em Teologia da PUC-Curitiba. Em conversa com o método iconológico de Erwin Panofsky e com consideração de aspectos de composição modernos como da perspectiva e do emblema, apresentam-se linguagens pneumatográficas do período da modernidade. Conclua-se que, nesse período, que inicia com a época da Renascença e termina com a modernidade tardia, ocorrem tanto reafirmações como releituras do cânon pneumatográfico anterior, em grande parte medieval, parcialmente, da Antiguidade. Elas passam, em termos gerais, pela estabilidade de motivos, elementos e gestos, ao lado da alteração de composições e de olhares retratados e sugeridos
