Proposal for Addressing Brownfield Challenges Using the Example of the Dominikánský Dvorec Cultural Heritage Site

Abstract

The bachelor's thesis focuses on the building and site of the Dominican Courtyard in Prague. This deteriorating Baroque courtyard, protected as a cultural heritage monument, is searching for a new purpose, but has struggled even after being transferred back under city management. The theoretical part of the thesis addresses the definition of key concepts, the categorization of brownfields, possibilities for financing brownfield redevelopment, and heritage conservation. The goal is to map the issues surrounding this monument (as a brownfield), its significance within the area, and to propose a future solution and usage of the Dominican Courtyard through qualitative research with various interested parties.Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na budovu a pozemek Dominikánského dvorce v Praze. Chátrající barokní dvůr chráněn statusem kulturní památky hledá své nové využití, a nedaří se mu tak ani po převedení zpět do správy města. Teoretická část se věnuje vymezení základních pojmů, kategorizaci brownfields, možnostem financování obnovy brownfields a památkové péči. Cílem je zmapovat problematiku této památky (jakožto brownfield), její význam v území a prostřednictvím kvalitativního výzkumu s odlišně zaujatými stranami vyvodit autorský návrh pro budoucí řešení a využití Dominikánského dvorce
