Estrés percibido de los residentes de postgrado de la Facultad de Medicina, Universidad de Los Andes, 2024 Perceived stress of postgraduate residents of the college of medicine, Universidad de Los Andes, 2024

Abstract

Introduction: Stress has become one of the most common syndromes in the workplace and threatens the health of one in five workers in the world (World Health Organization [WHO], 2022). Objective: evaluate the level of perceived stress in postgraduate residents of the College of Medicine, University of Los Andes, 2024. Method: quantitative research approach, analytical type, cross-sectional design, because the data is collected at a specific time. The sample was made up of 63 residents. The Perceived Stress Scale (EEP-10) was used. Results: sex 55.6% female, in the age groups, the highest percentages were 31 to 35 years (47.6%) and 25 to 30 years (41.3%), origin, 61.9% from a place other than Mérida, 68.3% with a stable partner, most common endocrinological comorbidities (65.1%), psychobiological habit: alcohol (30.2%), psychosomatic factor: anxiety (33.3%), the highest response percentage was from second-year residents (34.9%) and from the clinical area (65.1%). The EEP-10 values were between 4 and 33 points, 50.8% at a medium level, with a mean and standard deviation of 17.35 ± 6.98 points. Statistical differences were determined across the year of study (p=0.020), finding through the Tuckey test that there are differences between first year, compared to fourth and fifth year. Conclusions: stress is between the medium and medium-high level in three out of four residents. Conclusiones: el estrés está en tres de cuatro residentes entre el nivel medio y medio alto, también se encontró que, a menor año de residencia, mayor grado de estrés percibido.ABSTRACTIntroduction: Stress has become one of the most common syndromes in the workplace and threatens the health of one in five workers in the world (World Health Organization [WHO], 2022).
