QUEM ERA O CIDADÃO DO BRASIL NO PERÍODO DO PRIMEIRO REINADO E ANOS INICIAIS DA REGÊNCIA?

Abstract

The article addresses citizenship in Brazil during the period of the First Reign and the early years of the so-called Regency period. The aim of this study is to analyze how the concept of citizenship emerged in Brazil during the First Reign and the initial years of the Regency. In this context, the study seeks to present an overview of the construction of national identity, focusing on the development of the understanding of politics and citizenship from 1820 to 1834. To achieve this, a bibliographic and documentary review was conducted, with the research centered on the notions of politics, citizenship, and the concept of a citizen, as well as the factual and political landscape of Brazil during the specified timeframe (First Reign and early Regency period). The data collected were organized and interpreted using the content analysis method, based on Bardin's framework, and reasoned deductively.Trata-se de artigo que versa sobre a cidadania no Brasil, durante o período do primeiro reinado e nos anos iniciais do assim chamado período regencial. O objetivo do presente estudo é fazer uma análise sobre em que termos irrompeu a percepção de cidadão no Brasil, no período do primeiro reinado e anos iniciais da regência. Nessa direção, se quer apresentar o panorama da construção da identidade nacional, com foco na construção do entendimento de política e cidadania, nos anos de 1820 a 1834. Para tanto, empreendeu-se revisão bibliográfica e documental tendo como objeto de pesquisa as noções de política, cidadania e de cidadão bem como a textura fática e política do Brasil no lapso temporal demarcado como recorte de observação (primeiro reinado e início do período regencial), cujos dados foram organizados e interpretados de acordo com o método de análise de conteúdo, na matriz Bardin, e raciocinados de modo dedutivo
