Stavovi mlade populacije o uvođenju eura u Republici Hrvatskoj

Abstract

Since Croatia has joined the EU, it is on the course to join the EMU. It’s the result of the successful implementation of many reforms that were aimed at reducing macroeconomic imbalances and structural vulnerabilities. Furthermore, the Croatian Kuna has entered in the ERM II exchange rate mechanism, which is the last phase in the process of admission to EMU membership. By joining the EMU, Croatia will introduce the Euro as its national currency. Although the conversion of the existing national currency into Euro will be nothing new for the Croatian public, because two conversions have already been made in the recent history, this is the first time that a supranational currency has been introduced in Croatia. Because of that, numerous questions, doubts, and fears appear in the Croatian public. Their existence is all but the more present due to the delay in the implementation of a comprehensive information campaign, by which the Croatian public will be introduced to the topic that deals with the introduction of the Euro. In our paper, we’ve explored the attitudes of the young population about the introduction of the Euro. The research was conducted by means of a survey method on a sample that included 365 respondents, most of whom are included in the education system, ranging from high school to postgraduate study. The analysis of the obtained answers was conducted according to the respondent’s gender, age, and educational structure. In addition, for having a scientifically and cognitive character, the obtained results are applicable, because they can be helpful to participants involved in the process of operationalization of the introduction of the Euro
