Research-based teaching in Environmental Education: an approach to solid waste in an elementary school in Codó (MA, Brazil)

Abstract

The increase in solid waste production is due to factors such as the excessive consumption of goods and materials, causing pollution and environmental degradation. This study aims to analyze the impacts of the use of investigative practices in environmental education, in the approach to solid waste content, in an elementary school in the municipality of Codó (MA, Brazil). For this, an exploratory research was carried out, based on direct observations, field research and practical/investigative activities, expository classes and questionnaires. The results show that some students had a change in relation to the theme and a high degree of interaction with the proposed activities.  O aumento na produção de resíduos sólidos se dá por fatores como o consumo exacerbado de bens e materiais, ocasionando a poluição e degradação ambiental. O presente estudo objetiva analisar os impactos da utilização de práticas investigativas em educação ambiental, na abordagem do conteúdo de resíduos sólidos, em uma escola de nível fundamental, no munícipio de Codó (MA). Para isso, foi realizada uma pesquisa exploratória, a partir de observações diretas, pesquisas de campo e atividades práticas/investigativas, aulas expositivas e questionários. Os resultados mostram que alguns alunos tiveram mudança em relação ao tema e um elevado grau de interação com as atividades propostas
