Suggestions from the care during end-of-life from Swedish single poor older adults

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain suggestions for the care of poor single older adults in Japan from the perspective of aid workers involved in the end-of-life support for older adult residents of Sweden. A total of six people involved in medical care and welfare in Sweden were interviewed. Furthermore, their semantic interpretations were analyzed. Insights into the current state of poverty and institutional and home care in Sweden were gained. In Japan, as the number of single-person households increase, it is desirable that there are multiple options for the final stage of life. IN addition, society should respect the self-determination of older adults and not be biased towards excessive home-based principles. Furthermore, the institutional care staff experienced the death of a person who was not a direct family member, however, had become close to the staff(coined a 2.5th person by the author). Hence, care for the caregiver, such as death conferences, is necessary.departmental bulletin pape
