O USO DE HIDROXICLOROQUINA E CLOROQUINA PARA A PREVENÇÃO E TRATAMENTO DO CORONAVÍRUS: A CONTROVÉRSIA CIENTÍFICA QUE MARCOU A PRIMEIRA PANDEMIA DO SÉCULO XXI NO BRASIL

Abstract

This article comes from the initial research developed for the 8th Meeting for the Dissemination ofScience and Culture around the theme "Controversies". In this sense, the goal was to analyze thenuances of public perception through comments on Facebook posts of the newspapers G1 and Estadãoon the use of Hydroxychloroquine and Chloroquine as treatment methods for the disease caused by theSARS-CoV-2, among the period from 2020 to 2021. For this, a timeline was drawn from the beginningof the studies on the possible effectiveness of the drug, passing through the emergence of evidence thatproved the lack of benefits of the same, the political incentive on the population's adherence to themedication; the infodemic impact, and cases in which the treatment was carried out even without theproper authorization causing serious consequences, as is the example of what happened in the PreventSenior private health network.Este artigo provém da pesquisa inicial desenvolvida para o 8º Encontro de Divulgação de Ciência eCultura em torno do tema "controvérsias". Nesse sentido, o objetivo foi analisar as nuances dapercepção pública através de comentários em postagens no Facebook dos jornais G1 e Estadão sobre ouso da Hidroxicloroquina e da Cloroquina como métodos preventivos e de tratamento para a doençaocasionada pelo SARS-CoV-2 entre o período de 2020 a 2021. Para isto, foi traçado uma linha dotempo desde o início dos estudos sobre a possível eficácia do medicamento, passando pelo surgimentode evidências que provaram a falta de benefícios do mesmo, o incentivo, principalmente de algunspolíticos sob uma aderência populacional ao medicamento; o impacto da infodemia neste processo, atéos casos em que mesmo sem a devida autorização o tratamento foi realizado causando consequênciasgraves, como é o exemplo do ocorrido na rede de saúde privada Prevent Senior
