This paper aims to examine how memory - individual and collective – manifests in the fictional accounts Estrella distante (1996) and Nocturno de Chile (2000), by Roberto Bolaño, relating Memory and Literature in the Southern Cone after the coups d’État. We are going to discuss the reconstruction of memory in both works, scale of alliances between literature and power, proposing the reflective exercise around the meanings of the rescue of the memory of black years of military dictatorship in Chile.O presente texto tem por objetivo examinar a maneira pela qual se manifesta a memória – individual e coletiva – nos relatos ficcionais Estrella distante (1996) e Nocturno de Chile (2000), de Roberto Bolaño, relacionando Memória e Literatura no Cone Sul após os Golpes de Estado. Abordaremos a reconstrução da memória nas duas obras, dimensionadoras das alianças entre literatura e poder, propondo o exercício reflexivo em torno das significações do resgate da memória dos anos negros da ditadura militar no Chile
