Purpose: The coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has had a disruptive effect over the education system. Since the government strongly encouraged people to avoid unnecessary outings, universities had no other choice but to rapidly shift to online classes. Though this was the case until 2021, after the state of emergency and the semi-emergency coronavirus measures has been lifted in 2022, universities started to conduct face-to-face classes aiming to balance Covid and education. Therefore, there is a high possibility that the current activities and lifestyle of freshman university students in 2022 differ from students who entered universities in 2021, when there were still many restrictions. The purpose of this research is to specifically clarify whether the number of steps, time spent going out, time spent working out and lifestyle habits changed for university freshman students between 2021 and 2022. Methods: Targeting 195 university freshmen enrolled in 2021, and 153 university freshmen enrolled in 2022. The subject of the investigation was required to take an online survey in May and June after enrollment. Results: The survey asking for individuals’ days of attendance, number of steps, time spent going out and time spent working out in 2022 showed that these were remarkably high compared to 2021. Sleep status and the amount of time spent on mobile phones were significantly lower in 2022 than in 2021. The rate of students waking up before 7 am was notably higher in 2022 than in 2021. In addition, compared to 2021, health condition was shown to be poorer in 2022.Conclusion: The survey shows the changes in university freshmen’s daily activities and lifestyle between 2021 and 2022 after resuming face-to-face classes.
