PRODUCTION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF BIOCHARFROM RUBBER WOOD (Hevea braziliensis)

Abstract

Biochar is a carbon-rich solid material that is formed through the process of burning organic matter or biomass without or limited oxygen known as pyrolysis . Rubberwood biochar is made by burning using a simple drum. The purpose of this research is to make biochar from rubberwood and to characterize biochar from rubberwood. The analysis showed that the obtained biochar had a pH of 9.5, with a moisture content of 5.73 ± 0.76%, and an ash content of 3.70 ±0.10%. measurements using fourier transform infared showed that biochar has alcohol groups 3787.08-3249.13 cm-1 and carboxylic acid 2666.23 cm-
