The Japanese print shows one young woman and one man in high ranking style kimonos posing and a fan was thrown in the air in the middle. Ichikawa Danjuro 9th played Sarashinahime and Onoe Kikugoro 5th played Hikaru Genji in the play; Japanese maple is viewed in the back scene.This new Kabuki play was created in 1887, taking up the idea from the same title Noh play. The performance was recorded and made into a silent documentary film in 1899. This is the first moving picture film made by Japanese ever. It made into cinema for public view in 1903. It was the year when both actors died
