The analysis of Kemal Özer's short stories

Abstract

1935-2009 yılları arasında yaşayan şair Kemal Özer; edebiyatın birçok türünde eser vermiş olmakla birlikte edebî kariyerinde en çok şiir türü üzerinde durmuş ve çoğunlukla bu türde eser vermiştir. Ancak Özer’in daha ilk gençlik yıllarından itibaren deyiş yerindeyse sevdâlısı olduğu bir başka edebî tür daha vardır: öykü. Her ne kadar zamanla öyküden uzaklaşmış olsa da bu türde verdiği örnekler dikkat çekici bir nitelik taşır. Öykülerinde yer yer soyut, imajlara dayalı bir dil kullandığı gözlemlenen Özer’in; bireyci/içe dönük bir atmosfer yarattığını ve modernitenin yalnızlaştırdığı insanı anlattığını söylemek mümkündür. Bu yazı, Özer’in öyküleri üzerine bir inceleme ve yorumlama denemesidir.Kemal Özer, who lived between 1935-2009, produced in different styles and genres. He mostly focused on poetry and was most prolific in this genre during his career. However, since his youth, he has actually been interested in another literary genre; short story. Even though he later gives up story writing, the examples he has produced during this era, turns out to be remarkable. It is possible to say that Özer, who occasionally employs an abstract language full of images, is an individualistic author in terms of theme and tells about the loneliness and alienation of modern man.
