The Divine Love in Sufi Thought within the Framework of Ahmad Yasawi’s Divan-e Hikmat

Abstract

XII. yy. mutasavvıflarından olan Hoca Ahmed Yesevî, Pîr-i Türkistan namıyla şöhret kazanmış ve öğretileriyle Türklerin hem Müslüman olmasında hem de dinî anlayışlarının şekillenmesinde büyük tesirlerde bulunmuştur. Onun görüşleri, dinî-tasavvufi-ahlaki öğütleri vasıtasıyla günümüze ulaşmıştır. “Hikmet” adı verilen bu öğütler, Dîvân-ı Hikmet isimli eserinde bir araya getirilmiştir. Ahmed Yesevî, Dîvân-ı Hikmet’te, tasavvufi gelenekte hakkında geniş bir literatür teşekkül etmiş olan “ilahi aşk” konusu üzerinde ağırlıklı olarak durmuştur. Ona göre, aşk Hakk’a kavuşmanın yegâne yoludur. Ancak aşk ehli olmak, nefisle mücadele etmeyi, dünyadan ve dünyevi her şeyden vazgeçmeyi gerektirmektedir. Bu da tasavvuf kültüründe seyr u sülûk adı verilen ve bir mürşit rehberliğinde gerçekleştirilen manevi eğitim yoluyla sağlanmaktadır. Makalede, Ahmed Yesevî’nin ilahi aşk anlayışı, tasavvufi geleneğe mensup sufi, düşünür ve şairlerin görüşleriyle harmanlanarak ele alınacaktır.XII. YY. Hodja Ahmed Yesevi, one of the mystics, gained fame with the name of Pir-i Turkistan and had a great influence on the Turks' conversion to Islam and the shaping of their religious understanding with his teachings. His views have reached the present day through his religious-mystical-moral advice. These advices, called "Wisdom", were brought together in his work called Dîvân-ı Wisdom. Ahmed Yesevî focused heavily on the subject of "divine love", about which a large literature was formed in the Sufi tradition, in his Divan-i Wisdom. According to him, love is the only way to reach God. However, being a person of love requires fighting with the nafs and giving up on the world and everything worldly. This is achieved through spiritual education, which is called seyr u sulûk in Sufi culture and is carried out under the guidance of a mentor. In the article, Ahmed Yesevi's understanding of divine love will be discussed by blending it with the views of Sufis, thinkers and poets belonging to the Sufi tradition
