Epigenetics is a relative new branch of biology. It is understood as the study of potentially inheritable changes in the genome without altering of the DNA sequence. Cells respond to changes through chemical modifications at chromatin level which is the foundation of epigenetics. In this review, a broad overview is given of the mechanisms driving epigenetic responses at chromatin level as well as in different organisms and its implications in human diseases
