Abstract

Environmental damage due to factory waste disposal has become a serious problem that affects people's health and welfare. This research focuses on the social environmental impact of tapioca factory waste disposal activities in Kandangan Village, Kediri Regency. The main objective of this research is to analyze the various social and environmental impacts caused as well as mitigation efforts carried out by the factory and local government. The method used is qualitative research with a case study approach. Data was collected through observation, open interviews with key informants such as village heads, RT/RW heads, and surrounding communities, as well as documentation from factory archives. Data were analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques, including data condensation, data exposure, and drawing and verifying conclusions. The research results show that the majority of people support the construction of the factory in the hope of increasing the local economy and employment opportunities. However, factory waste causes significant environmental pollution, causing health problems such as respiratory problems. Implementation of AMDAL and environmentally friendly waste processing technology is very important to reduce this negative impact. The factory's communication efforts and social responsibility programs demonstrate a commitment to environmental sustainability and community welfare. In conclusion, the application of environmentally friendly technology and strict supervision from the government as well as active community participation are very necessary to minimize the negative impacts of factory waste disposal. The establishment of a communication forum between the factory, community and government is also recommended to resolve emerging issues effectively. The suggestion from this research is that factories must improve environmentally friendly waste processing technology. Regional governments need to strengthen supervision and regulation of factory operations. It is important to improve communication and collaboration between factories, communities and government through communication forums
