Organization of volunteers in the Czech House during The Summer Olympic Games in London

Abstract

Title: Organization of volunteers in the Czech House during The Summer Olympic Games in London Objectives: The thesis is focused on issues of choice and management of volunteers for the Czech House in London, which was the main meeting place for fans and athletes and also the place for public presentation of the Czech Republic during the Summer Olympic Games 2012. The aim is to describe the organization of volunteers and to suggest changes that could be utilized in the next years or when working with volunteers during similar events. Methods: The information have been obtained by the interview with the chief coordinator of volunteers, informal interviews with volunteers and my own experience as an volunteer in the Czech House (observation). Results: The methods used have brought enough information to create a complete description of the organizational system of volunteers in the Czech House. The segmentation on individual personnel actions contributed to the clarity of this description. For most of the actions there was a relevant content from the organizational system of volunteers. The use of this organizational system brought only few problems and that is why it could be recommended to other organizers of sporting or similar events.
