Individual differences in the effects of personal space invasion: A test of the Brebner-Cooper model of extraversion

Abstract

An experiment using invasion of personal space as a means of increasing arousal level tested the hypothesis that extraverts' performance at a relatively ‘inspective’ task would be impaired under conditions of increased arousal while they would perform better than introverts under more ‘responsive’ conditions. The role of N was examined. Results supported predictions drawn from the Brebner-Cooper (1974) model of extraversion
