Flavonol and Chalcone Ester Glycosides from Bidens leucantha

Abstract

Abstract: Four new flavonol 7-O-glycosides 1−4 and a new chalcone ester glycoside 5 have been isolated from the leaves of Bidens leucantha along with four known chalcone ester glycosides 6−9. Their structures were elucidated using a combination of spectroscopic techniques. The in vitro anti-HIV activity of all the compounds was tested as part of our screening of potential anti-AIDS agents from medicinal plants. Although none of the flavonol glycosides was active, a moderate inhibitory effect on viral replication was exerted by chalcone ester glycoside 9
