Abstract

The statistical aspects of the procedures by which values are placed on savings in travel time, on the basis of stated or revealed preference data, are discussed and analysed. Conclusions are drawn for the design of such experiments. This work was undertaken in the course of a larger project on value-of-time estimation commissioned by the Department of Transport
