My bachelor thesis deals with the profession of a nursery teacher, their competences and their ideal image through the eyes of children. The theoretical part describes a professional identity and competences of a nursery teacher focusing on their personal and communicative skills. The pedagogical profession is mentioned here from the historical perspective, next the pedagogical education and requirements on teachers are dealt with. This is followed by description of nursery teachers´ competences as well as self-reflection, which is an essential component of this profession. The research conducted in the practical part is based on ideas and desires of pre-school children about an ideal nursery teacher.
