Weiss - Tessbach and Pacov region. The fate of noble house in years 1918 - 1945

Abstract

The presented bachelor thesis: Weiss - Tessbach and Pacov region. The fate of noble house in years 1918 - 1945, deals with the last members of the Viennese noble house of Weiss - Tessbach in the region of Bohemia. First part of the thesis describes fate of nobility in the Austro - Hungarian Empire since the beginning of the 20th century, till the end of the World War II, mainly in connection with their nationality. The thesis is also focused on historical context of Bohemian lands in first half of 20th century and outlines the relations between Bohemians and Germans. In the second part of the thesis the subject of interest is focused on the lives of last owners of estates in Pacov and Těchobuz, mainly the owner Otto Weiss - Tessbach and his wife Klotylda. The thesis drew from the personal heritage of JUDr. Otto Weiss - Tessbach, which is deposited in a State District Archives in Pelhřimov, and mainly from Weiss - Tessbach's Family Archive, which is located in Jindřichův Hradec department of State Regional Archives in Třeboň
