These alkynes were reacted with the chloroplatinum(II) compounds trans-[PtCl2(PPh3)2] and cis-[PtCl2(dppe)] to afford the respective trans- and cis-bis(alkynyl)platinum(II) complexes, which were characterised by spectroscopic analysis and by X-ray diffraction. The platinum(II) complexes containing the thiopyridyl- and pyrazolyl-substituted alkynes react with 1 or 2 equiv. of [Ag(NO3)(PPh3)] to give dimetallic PtII/AgI complexes. We wish to thank the Spanish Ministry for Education and Science,
