MODEL PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER BERBASIS VALUES CLARIFICATION APPROACH DI SMA SANTA MARIA 1 CIREBON

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kenyataan bahwa pendidikan karakter belum mampu membuat sebagian besar peserta didik memiliki pilihan nilai yang kokoh atas pilihan-pilihan nilai pribadinya, sehingga dalam kehidupan yang nyata sering penuh keraguan dan kegamangan dalam menghayatinya. Model pendidikan karakternya masih disampaikan secara teoritis- abstrak yang bersifat pengetahuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan desain model pendidikan karakter di Sekolah Menengah Atas untuk membantu peserta didik memiliki pilihan nilai yang kokoh. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini merupakan kombinasi antara penelitian kuantitatif dan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode research and development (R & D). Teknik pengumpulan data dengan cara : observasi, wawancara, studi dokumentasi dan angket. Penelitian ini menghasilkan 3 model pendidikan karakter berbasis values clarification approach. Model pertama dikaji berdasarkan data empiris dengan fokus pendidikan nilai berbasis paradigma pendidikan Dominikan (PPD), model kedua dikaji berdasarkan kajian teoritis tentang values clarification approach, model ketiga merupakan model hipotetik berupa model baru pendidikan karakter berbasis values clarification approach untuk memperkokoh pilihan dan penghayatan nilai bagi peserta didik dalam kehidupan nyata.;--This research is based on the fact that character education hasn’t been able in making most students to have a strong commitment on values preference above their own personal one. Therefore, in most of the time they are doubtful and disoriented in living their choices. The character education is still delivered theoretically-abstract which is only knowledge based. This research is aimed o formulate the model design of character education in senior high school so that the students will have a strong commitment on the values preference. The approach in this research is the combination of quantitative and qualitative using the research and development (R & D) method. The data is gathered by observation, interview, documentation study and questionnaire. The research bring about 3 models of character education based on values clarification approach. The first model is studied using the empirical data by focusing on the values education base on the Dominican education paradigm (PPD).The second model is studied based on the theoretical study about the values clarification approach. The third model is a hypothetical model which is a new model of a character education based on the values clarification approach to strengthen the preferences and the values appreciation in the students’ real life
