Internationalization of crowdfunding

Abstract

Završni rad daje teorijsko obrazloženje sveprisutnog procesa internacionalizacije i novog trenda u poslovanju - grupnog financiranja (dalje u tekstu: crowdfunding), pregled i usporedbu različitih vrsta crowdfundinga i studiju slučaja iz hrvatskog poslovnog svijeta. Ukratko su prikazane teoretske osnove procesa internacionalizacije, ali najveći naglasak upravo je na crowdfundingu kao još uvijek neslužbenom načinu intenacionalizacije poslovanja. Razređena tema ovoga rada objedinjuje već provedena istraživanja i saznanja o crowdfundingu, te je potrebno posebno napomenuti kako prethodni radovi rijetko povezuju crowdfunding s internacionalizacijom poslovanja iz razloga što se crowdfunding smatra alternativnim načinom financiranja. Kako bi se približila problematika povezivanja procesa detaljno je opisan studij slučaja riječke udruge Bure Znanja (od osnivanja, procesa razvoja ideje, potrebne edukacije i potpore okruženja, proizvoda, rezultata i sl.). Njihov proizvod plasiran na Indiegogo platformu za grupno financiranje bio je STEMI program - Učenje stvaranjem odnosno obrazovni paket za sastavljanje šesteronožnog robota hodača. Informcije o udruzi i načinu provođenja crowdfunding kampanje prikupljene su metodom intervjuiranja jednog od osnivača udruge, Pavla Pahljine, te javno objavljenih rezultata na Indiegogo platformi. Cilj rada bio je ukazati na povezanost procesa, te kroz studiju slučaja prikazati na koji se način crowdfunding može koristiti ne samo za svrhe korporativnog financiranja, već i za razvojne i trgovinske inicijative udruga, neprofitnih organizacija, te malih poduzeća.The final paper provides a theoretical explanation of the ubiquitous process of internationalization and a new business trend - group financing ("crowdfunding"), overview of various types of crowdfunding, as well as their comparison. Furthermore, it is briefly given theoretical insight of the internationalization process, but the biggest emphasis is on crowdfunding as one of the (still) unofficial ways of business internationalization. The dissenting topic of this work combines the already conducted researches and knowledges of crowdfunding and it should be noted that the previous researches rarely relates crowdfunding with the internationalization process because crowdfunding is still considered as an alternative way of financing. In order to get deeper insights of the linking process issue, for the case study example is taken one Croatian association named Bura Znanja. Their product, launched on the Indiegogo (chosed platform for crowdfunding), was the STEMI program - Learning a Creating or Educational Package for Composing a Six-Way Robot Walker. In addition, on the following pages can be find association`s details about; funding process, process of developing ideas, needed education and support, their product and results, etc. Information about the association and how they conduct the crowdfunding campaign was collected by interviewing one of the association`s co-founder, Pavao Pahljina, and from publicly announced results on the Indiegogo platform. The aim of this work was to demonstrate the relation of crowdfunding and internationalization process, as well as to showcase the way in which crowdfunding can be used not only for the purpose of corporate financing, but also for the development and trade initiatives of associations, non-profit organizations and small enterprises
