Persepsi Mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta terhadap Iklan Bahaya Merokok

Abstract

Cigarettes are one of the addictive substances which when used can cause harm to the health of the community. To appeal to the public the government display advertisement for smoking health promotion in the last few months of 2017. Advertising is a communication method used by communicators to convey information about goods or services. The purpose of this study was to analyze the perceptions of engineering faculty students at the University Muhammadiyah Of Surakarta on Smoking Hazard advertisements. The method used in this study is qualitative by using a case study approach. This study was conducted on engineering faculty students because it was more male dominated by active smokers. The informants of this study consisted of 4 main informants of active smokers 4 informants of active smokers triangulation and health promotion officers with purposive sampling technique. The results of this study indicate that four students did not feel compelled to stop smoking because only by seeing the impressions they could not make students feel confident about the danger of smoking cigarettes every day. The conclusion of this study is that the Danger Smoking advertisement does not get the attention of students so it is not effective in appealing to people to stop smoking and prevent diseases that will be experienced by the public
