Rf values in various solvents are reported for a great many drugs of interest in forensic toxicol. The abs. values and the values cor. according to A. C. Moffat (1975) are tabulated. The acidic substances were chromatographed on alumina, the alk. ones on silica gel. The reproducibilities obtained upon repeated detn. of a given substance, whether pure or in exts. of biol. material, were greatly improved when the Moffat correction was applied, making the data more reliable for the identification of generic drugs. Similar tests were carried out on exts. of tissues, mostly treated by the Stas-Otto procedure; the exts. had been stored for 2-13 yr at room temp. in dark-glass, stoppered tubes, but without any other precaution. In almost all cases, the drugs in these exts. could be identified as readily by the chromatog. methods used as could the drugs in fresh material, as very little change had occurred during storage
