From lord's servers to king's servers. The difficult step from manor administration towards the royal management in eighteenth century Spain

Abstract

En el presente trabajo hemos tratado de establecer las diferentes posibilidades que se abrieron a los letrados que comenzaron su carrera administrando justicia en tierras de señorío; posibilidades que en un gran número de casos quedaron limitadas a servir en otras alcaldías mayores o corregimientos ubicados en tierras de titularidad señorial. Otras veces, sin embargo, supusieron el comienzo de una cadena de ascensos que les llevó a impartir justicia en territorio de la Mesta, de las diferentes Órdenes Militares peninsulares y realengo.In the present article we have tried to establish the different possibilities were opened to the lawyers who beginning developing their jobs in the lordships; possibilities which, in a great number of cases, were limited to serve in other «alcaldías mayores» or «corregimientos» located in lands of «titularidad señorial». In other cases, it supposed the beginning of a chain of ascents that took them to distribute justice in territory belonged to the «Mesta», to different peninsular Monastic-military Orders and «realengo»
