No
Discotheques are, generally speaking, used by young populations that seek
out moments of pleasure and enjoyment. However, the perception remains for
those who use and live near them, that the noise levels experienced in
discotheques are typically exaggerated. The purpose of this study is to
ascertain the effects of typical discotheque noise in the human body and
through them establish a relationship between noise and health. In order to
achieve this objective, discotheque noise was characterized, both in
amplitude and frequency, through sound level pressure measurements. The
next step comprehended an exposure simulation of the previous determined
typical discotheque noise levels. This simulation took place in a controlled
environment, free of conditions such as light, tobacco, alcohol and other
drugs, with a first group of people (G2), with ages ranging from 24 to 30 years
old and without pathological background concerning the predictable noise
effects related to this kind of sound exposure. Another group of people (G3),
with ages ranging from 24 to 41 years old, entirely constituted by Disc
Jockeys with a minimum of 5 year experience in the musical field, was also
exposed to the same noise levels. It was also established a control group
(G1), identical in every aspect to the G2 group except for the fact that it was
not target of noise exposure. All these three groups were object of several
inquiries, tests and clinical trials suitable for the aim of this study, in order to
quantify and qualify the effects of noise in the human body
