Every customs officer working in any country of the world including Latvia should know the scope of operation of customs legislation and its hierarchy – international treaties, regional agreements, conventions, Council and Committee regulations as well as provisions of national legislation on customs matters. All the customs information systems in the EU are also designed to meet unified functional and technical requirements of systems and the systems used in Latvia are based on requirements of Latvian and EU rules and regulations in the field of customs.
