The implementation of generic skill through co-curriculum activity in polytechnic to fulfill the industrial demand: proposal paper

Abstract

One of the contents of National Education Philosophy is to produce a well-balanced individual. This element is also influence by industrial sector in Malaysia. For example, a balanced individual is someone who has knowledge in career field as well as general knowledge (generic skills). Thus, in order to mould a well-balanced individual, it is believed that co-curriculum can complement curriculum in the education system in Malaysia including institution such as Polytechnics. Therefore, in this Philosophy Doctor level research paper, it will act as a proposal that will discuss the importance in implementing co-curriculum activity in Polytechnics in order to cultivate generic skills among future workforce in Malaysia.
