Abstract

Arbuckle and Gilmore's other great cornetist, Jules Levy, competed fiercely, and even came to blows during one concert. After leaving Gilmore's Band around 1880, Arbuckle become the conductor of D. L. Downing's Ninth Regiment Band and cornet soloist with Carlo A. Cappa's Seventh Regiment Band
