This article investigates on one hand the interrelationship between simplification, the need for comprehensibility and the communication goals pursued by the respective senders, and on the other, those between intralingual translation and (technical) writing. Special attention is paid to recipient-oriented linguistic design in relation to multimodal and textual aspects. The analysis focuses mainly on how, and for which target audiences, German energy discourse addresses the topic pertaining to the importance of hydrogen for energy transition – a topic which is both technically complex and socio-politically and economically relevant. For this purpose, I have collected a corpus that combines online texts of selected actors who are active in the energy sector or who are supposed to facilitate the energy transition. The focus is on the different linguistic, visual and textual strategies and means employed to simplify the given complexity in such a way that the relevant target groups, which range from citizens interested in the topic to active or potential customers and people with cognitive impairments, can understand the content according to the broadcaster's intentions. In this respect, a comparison between messages by the same actor in both standard language and easy language proves to be particularly illuminating. This article investigates on one hand the interrelationship between simplification, the need for comprehensibility and the communication goals pursued by the respective senders, and on the other, those between intralingual translation and (technical) writing. Gianni Celati: il ‘flâneur’ nell’epoca digitale. Sulle tracce della piccola oasi
Following Rilke’s attitude in his Duino Elegies, Gianni Celati moves toward the frontiers of negation, recognizing that all things have a limit (mourning), however, at this «edge of no», he suggests that things balance upon a hidden foundation (silence). Thus, negation is not exclusively death, and the flâneur, standing at this limit, as a Wanderer, rediscovers the small oasis, that is, the word. In this wandering, Celati displays a particular inclination toward the search for and discovery of that unknown second meaning of things and places. A possible and productive analysis of Celati’s works may be conceived by approaching his texts through Heidegger’s hermeneutics. The chosen interpretative effort is not without its challenges. However, it is certainly useful for the restoration of that ethical/aesthetic and ecological flânerie to the present that now more than ever is relevant in an era so fleeting and digital, where paths disappear too easily and horizons are equally erased.
In remembering Sabina Magrini, her study of Angelo Pezzana stands out—a key figure in 19th-century librarianship, to whom she dedicated the conference Emilian and European Culture in the 19th Century (Parma, 2013). Her essay, Angelo Pezzana and the Birth of the Modern Librarian, explores the role, limits, and transformations of the profession, highlighting the continued relevance of these dynamics. It is a tribute to the concrete “craft” of librarianship, which Sabina embodied with both rigor and passion.
This article explores the role of intercultural competences (IC) within the Italian juvenile justice system, with a focus on professional practices involving minors with a migratory background, including unaccompanied foreign minors (UFM). Drawing on a mixed methods design with a qualitative core, this research investigates how intercultural competences are used in the daily practices of legal professionals, identifies five key thematic areas for managing cultural differences, and defines a professional profile of the intercultural practitioner within the juvenile justice system. The article specifically focuses on this profile, while deferring the presentation of quantitative results and the theoretical model of IC to future publications. Findings reveal that IC are not an isolated technical skill but complex, relational, and situated perspectives that support equity, personalisation, and cultural awareness in decision-making processes. For UFM, these competences prove crucial in transforming formal rights into accessible and meaningful protections. Despite some limitations, this research contributes to pedagogical reflection and offers practical tools for more inclusive and responsive juvenile justice systems.
