FuzzE, Development of a Fuzzing Approach for Odoo’s Tours Integration Testing Plateform
For many years, Odoo, an open-source add-on-based platform offering an extensive range of functionalities, including Enterprise Resource Planning, has constantly expanded its scope, resulting in an increased complexity of its software. To cope with this evolution, Odoo has developed an integration testing system called tour execution, which executes predefined testing scenarios (i.e., tours) on the web user interface to test the integration between the front, back, and data layers. This paper reports our effort and experience in extending the tour system with fuzzing. Inspired by action research, we followed an iterative approach to devise FuzzE, a plugin for Odoo’s tour system to create new tours. FuzzE was eventually developed in three iterations. Our results show that mutational fuzzing is the most effective approach when integrating with an existing testing infrastructure. We also reported one issue to the Odoo issue tracker. Finally, we present lessons learned from our endeavor, including the necessity to consider testability aspects earlier when developing web-based systems to help the fuzzing effort, and the difficulty faced when performing triage and root cause analysis on failing tours
Evaluating the pragmatism of sarcopenia clinical trials using PRECIS-2:a systematic review
Objective: This study aims to review interventional clinical trials in sarcopenia to assess their level of pragmatism and identify gaps to improve the clinical relevance and feasibility of future trials in the real world. Methods: A systematic review was conducted using MEDLINE (via Ovid), Embase, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (PRISMA guidelines; PROSPERO: CRD42024571027). Eligible studies included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on sarcopenia treatment using a consensus definition. The PRECIS-2 tool was used to assess the level of pragmatism of these RCTs across nine standard domains (eligibility, recruitment, setting, organisation, flexibility of delivery, flexibility of adherence, follow-up, primary outcome, and primary analysis), with an additional "control" domain. Total PRECIS-2 scores were calculated, and subgroup analyses were conducted by intervention type, geographical location, sample size, study duration, and sarcopenia definition. Results: Of the 3,985 references reviewed, 58 RCTs met the inclusion criteria. The mean PRECIS-2 score across its 10 domains was 2.92 (SD 1.30), reflecting a balance of explanatory and pragmatic characteristics. Organisation, recruitment, and primary outcome were identified as the most pragmatic domains, whereas eligibility, adherence, and follow-up were the most explanatory. Subgroup analyses revealed that geographical location and sarcopenia definitions impacted significantly the overall PRECIS-2 score. More precisely, studies conducted in Asia achieved higher pragmatism scores, with significant differences in setting (p = 0.016), follow-up (p = 0.009), and control (p = 0.011). Studies using Asian sarcopenia criteria (e.g. AWGS) were also more pragmatic, particularly in the setting (p = 0.036) and control (p = 0.010).Conclusion: Due to the reversible nature of sarcopenia, clinical trials in this area have increased significantly in recent years. Although some methodological aspects of these RCTs follow pragmatic approaches, this systematic review highlights the need for improvements in areas such as exclusion criteria, follow-up and adherence. Specifically, there is an urgent need to design RCTs that more accurately reflect the complexity of real-world interventions in the multifaceted landscape of sarcopenia
Subtilisin 6 From the Dermatophyte Trichophyton benhamiae Is a Marker of Infection but Not a Unique Virulence Factor
Background: Trichophyton benhamiae is a common dermatophyte whose natural host is the guinea pig and which causes highly inflammatory skin lesions in humans. The subtilisin 6 (SUB6) of this fungus belongs to a family of 12 SUB genes. Its encoding gene, overexpressed in vivo but not in vitro, has been considered a potentially important virulence factor, but its role in pathogenesis remains to be elucidated. Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the role of T. benhamiae SUB6 in virulence in a mouse skin infection model. Methods: To assess the contribution of SUB6 to virulence, SUB6-deleted (ΔSUB6) and complemented strains were generated by genetic transformation. The pathogenicity of these strains was compared with that of the parental strain in vivo in mice, based on the evolution of skin symptoms, histopathological lesions and molecular analyses targeting the expression of host pro-inflammatory genes and fungal genes encoding subtilisins from the same family as SUB6.Results: The ΔSUB6 strain induced superficial skin signs and histopathological inflammatory lesions similar to those caused by the parental strain. Significant overexpression of the SUB1, SUB3, SUB8 and SUB10 genes in the tissues was observed regardless of the strain tested, with no difference between these strains, reflecting the absence of any compensatory mechanism among subtilisins. Conclusions: SUB6 appears to be more of a marker of fungal infection than a virulence factor, at least acting alone
NotLikeUs Panel Survey Dataset Belgian 2024 Elections
Dataset of a 4-wave electoral panel survey during the 2024 Belgian elections. The panel consists of 4 waves in the electoral year of 2024, when elections took place in Belgium for the federal, regional, and European level on 9 June and for the local level on 13 October. Wave 1 was fielded in January (pre-campaign), wave 2 in May (campaign), wave 3 in June (post-electoral), and wave 4 in November (post-electoral). The dataset consists of separate samples for Brussels, Flanders, and Wallonia. The surveys focus strongly on affective polarization and perceptions of differentness. (2025-02-13
