A atuação da organização dos estados americanos (OEA) a partir dos desdobramentos da revolução cubana durante o auge da guerra fria : das características às estratégias

This paper looks to analyze the role of the Organization of American States (OAS) during the unfolding of the Cuban Revolution at the height of the Cold War. Since its independence, the United States has shown interest in the American continent and has sought to secure its hegemonic interests in the region, intervening several times in Latin American issues. The Organization of American States, which was established in 1948, whose goal was to be a multilateral organization, has always had American influence in its decision-making, and in turn, was no different in the period of the Cuban Revolution, when the OAS was one of the mediators of the relationship between the United States of America and Cuba. The subject is still very much present till this day, because many discussions still exist on the consequences of the Revolution. This paper used exploratory basic research and its procedures were bibliographic and documentary, its approach was qualitative. It can be concluded that the OAS was an American instrument in ensuring its interests in the continent after the Cuban Revolution.Este trabalho procura analisar a atuação da Organização dos Estados Americanos (OEA) durante os desdobramentos da Revolução Cubana no auge da Guerra Fria. Desde sua independência, os Estados Unidos mostravam interesse no continente americano, e procuravam garantir seus interesses hegemônicos na região, intervindo diversas vezes nas questões latino-americanas. A Organização dos Estados Americanos, que foi criada em 1948, com o objetivo de ser uma organização multilateral, sempre teve influência norte-americana nas suas tomadas de decisões, e por sua vez, não foi diferente no período da Revolução Cubana, quando a OEA foi uma das mediadoras das relações entre os países americanos e Cuba. O tema é muito presente até o momento, pois muito se discute as consequências da Revolução. Este trabalho teve uma pesquisa básica exploratória e os procedimentos foram bibliográficos e documentais, sua abordagem foi qualitativa. Pode-se concluir que a OEA foi um instrumento norte-americano na garantia dos seus interesses no continente após a Revolução Cubana
