    The implementation of game based learning (gbl) method to improve efl students’ vocabulary mastery

    This study was aimed to evaluate the implementation of Game-Based Learning (GBL) method to improve EFL students vocabulary mastery at SMPN Satu Atap 1 Katingan Hilir. The researcher chose class VII students totaling 23 as the subjects, and the informant was one English teacher. The research method employed was qualitative descriptive, enabling the researcher to gain in-depth insights into the effectiveness of GBL in improving the English vocabulary mastery of the students. Data was collected through observation, questionnaires, and interviews with English teachers involved in the teaching process. This data was used to evaluate the implementation of GBL in three phases: pre-teaching, while teaching, and post-teaching. The finding indicated that the implementation of Game-Based Learning (GBL) methods was effective in improving English vocabulary mastery EFL students at SMPN Satu Atap 1 Katingan Hilir. This indicated that a more interactive and enjoyable approach to learning addressed the previous weakness in English vocabulary mastery. The data analysis results demonstrated a substantial improvement in students' vocabulary mastery after they participated in learning sessions using the GBL method. Presenting learning material in the form of engaging games had the capability to improve students' learning interest, thus motivating them to actively participate and interact within the learning environment. Therefore, method GBL could be regarded as an effective alternative in designing enjoyable and efficient teaching strategies to improve EFL students' vocabulary mastery

Metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif menjadi pilihan untuk menjabarkanstrategi manajemen mutu Sekolah Menengah Pertama Islam Terpadu Al Ghazali Modern SchoolPalangka Raya, yang didahului tahapan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi ditemukan hasil: manajemen mutu pada fungsi pengorganisasian dalam rangka memberi layanan terhadap siswa,tenaga pendidik dan kependidikan serta sarana di SMP Islam Terpadu Al Ghazali Modern SchoolPalangka Raya terpenuhi pada aspek; 1) tujuan pengorganisasian sebagai service motive,danprofit motive, 2) jenis layanan yang terkoordinir dalam satu komando, 3) pengelompokkanberdasarkan hubungan antar kegiatan, 4) anggota yang aktif terlibat dalam pengorganisasian, 5)memiliki rincian tugas berupa Job Diskriptions dan Standar Operasional Prosedural di tingkat divisi, 6) wewenang yang terdelegasi secara baik, 7) rentang kendali secara kolektif

    Exploring the Effectiveness of Graphic Organizers on EFL Learners’ Writing Performance Across Different Learning Style Preference and Gender at Higher Education

    The research investigated the interaction effect amongst types of writing strategy (x1), learning styles (x2), and gender (x3) on writing accuracy (y) at Islamic University Students. The 70 participants consisted of three groups based on types of writing strategy: free writing (n= 34) versus graphic organizers (n=36); types of learning styles : visual (n=22) versus auditory (n=26) versus kinesthetic (n=22); and gender (x3): male (32), female (38). A three-way ANOVA test was applied in the investigation. The study revealed that an interaction effect occurred amongst three variables on average of writing accuracy at F (2, 69) =3.34, p=0.02, eta 0.10. Then, the interaction effect also occurred between writing strategy and learning styles at F (2, 69) =7.40, p=0.01; and between learning styles and gender at F (2, 69) =6.56, p=0.03. On the contrary, the interaction effect did not occur between writing strategy and gender at F (1, 69) =1.79, p=0.19. Further investigation is needed to validate the finding

    Ethnomedicine exploration of medicinal plants in Dayak Bakumpai and Ngaju Tribes, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia

    Dayak Tribes in Central Kalimantan still utilize traditional medicines from parts of plants as a hereditary inheritance. Knowledge about traditional medicines, however, has not been well documented and most of the traditional gatherer families do not want to be a gatherer. This could lead to the loss of tradition in concocting traditional medicine. Therefore, the research aims to conserve and preserve local wisdom by documenting traditional medicinal plants used by gatherers and communities of the Dayak Bakumpai and Ngaju Tribes. Moreover, it aims to gather data on the use value of the traditional medicinal plant species of the Dayak Tribes. The research focuses on the ethnomedicine exploration of the Dayak Ngaju Tribe in Seruyan and Katingan and Dayak Bakumpai in Muara Teweh and Kapuas. Samples are taken purposively and using a snowball sampling that results in 42 volunteered key informants. The key informants are interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire. The knowledge and practice of medicinal plants are analyzed using descriptive statistics of percentages. The research results indicate that the role of the gatherers and Batra in Borneo is significant since they have knowledge of ethnomedicine in the efforts to maintain health and conserve the surrounding plants. A total of 60 plant species are mixed by the Batra/local people and spread in 36 families. Species mostly found are from the Fabaceae and Lauraceae families. The use value of the species in the Dayak Tribe medicinal plants is in the range of 0.02-0.1 with the largest UVc value found in the species of Eurycoma longifolia Jack., Tinospora crispa Miers., Planchonia valida BI., Ficus deltoidea Jack., and Morus alba L. More surveys are suggested regarding traditional medicines with their chemical profile and pharmacological examination, especially in rural areas that still use traditional medicines
