Fabrication of a Small Vertical Wind Tunnel Test Equipment and Utilization for Practical Education

自然現象の流れを可視化することは、その流動および、それに伴う諸現象を物理的に把握できるとともに、状態変化を容易に観察することができることから、古くから、その技術をさまざまな研究に活用してきた。また、流体力学関連の航空・船舶・機械系や水理環境構造物関連の土木系、さらには、風に関連した建造物関連の建築系といった工学系全般において、「流れの可視化」は幅広く活用されている。 崇城大学（以下、本学）においても大型の水平風洞実験装置を有しており、そこでは様々な研究がなされているが、当校が理念として掲げる「実学主義による体験型教育」や「実践教育」をより現実的かつ身近なものにするため、今般、小型の垂直風洞実験装置を製作した。今後は、この装置を積極的に活用し、専門教育課程における流体力学に関する理論や原理原則論を学ぶと同時に、その学んだ理論を直ちに実践・体験することで、個々人の専門力育成につなげたい。さらに、当該装置はセクション毎に分割できる構造としており、容易に装置移動が可能であることから、出張講義等の機会を捉えて、次世代への工学教育の一助として活用したい。departmental bulletin pape

The Effects of University Physical Education on Communication Skills and Subjective Adjustment to Physical Education Classes ―Through the Health Sports Education I (Softball) Class―

本学学生に対して開講される大学体育実技「健康スポーツ教育Ⅰ（ソフトボール）」の授業を通して、コミュニケーションスキルの向上を意図した授業展開を実践することが、コミュニケーションスキルおよび体育適応感にどのような影響を及ぼすのか検証することを目的とした。対象者は、令和6年度前期に開講された健康スポーツ教育Ⅰ（ソフトボール）を受講した38名（男17名、女21名）とした。コミュニケーションスキル尺度および体育適応感尺度によるアンケート調査を実施した。結果として、コミュニケーションスキルについては自己統制、表現力、解読力の因子においてpre調査からpost調査の得点が有意に向上した。体育適応感については連帯志向、体育適応の因子においてpre調査よりpost調査の得点が有意に向上した。体育適応感に対するコミュニケーションスキルの影響について回帰分析を用いて検討するため、体育適応感を従属変数、コミュニケーションスキルを独立変数とする単回帰分析を行った結果、コミュニケーションスキルが体育適応感に対して有意な正の影響を及ぼすことが示された。departmental bulletin pape

Research Report: Tracking AI Awareness Among First-year Students – A Yearly Comparison

This research report summarizes a comparison between the 2023 and 2024 academic years of awareness of AI among selected students at a Japanese university. The study was motivated by the recent growth of AI and the observation that Japan lags behind other countries in AI awareness, as confirmed by the 2024 Stanford AI Index Report. Data were collected through surveys, revealing a significant increase in AI familiarity from 2023 to 2024. Skepticism toward AI grew slightly; however, it seemed students’ understanding of AI’s global impact remained limited. Lectures of the “Best Teaching Award” Winners 2023 ―Idea for Improvement (8th Report)―

令和2年度から令和4年度までの3年間、新型コロナウイルス感染症（COVID-19）の感染拡大を防止するために、崇城大学では遠隔授業を含む様々な形態の授業が実施されてきた。令和5年度にCOVID-19の感染症法上の位置づけが5類に移行したことにより、原則として対面授業が実施された。 このように授業を取り巻く環境と授業形態が大きく変化した中で、令和5年度のベストティーチング賞（BTA: Best Teaching Award）は受講者数による3つの区分とSILC教員の区分で選出され、5名の教員によって担当された8科目が表彰された。 BTA受賞教員に共通するのは、受講者が質問したり、発言したりする積極的な学習を生み出す学びの場を創出するための様々な工夫を実践されていることであった。特に、受講者との信頼関係を構築することに注力されていた。departmental bulletin pape

Raising Queer Awareness via a Self-Access Learning Center: A Research and Planning Report

This report details the June 2024 LGBT+ Pride Display held in the self-access learning center within Sojo University International Learning Center, as well as the design process and results of said display. Furthermore, it discusses what was learned by the author in designing and setting up displays of this nature, and what may need to be done differently in any subsequent displays. The report argues there is a need for these kinds of displays, informed by LGBT+ issues as they manifest in Japan, as these may help inform student bodies about these important issues, and promote discussion.departmental bulletin pape

Review and Prospect of Educational Reform at Sojo University

日本における数学基礎学力の低下、学力差の拡大、データサイエンス・AI教育需要の増加、および教育者不足の現状を背景に、個別最適化学習の重要性が増すとともに課題が顕在化している。本研究では、リメディアル教育およびオンライン学習システムに関する先行研究を基に、現状のICTを活用した数学オンライン学習サービスの事例を調査検討した。調査方法として、設定した選定基準に基づき複数の教育サービスを選択し、比較分析の枠組みを構築してデータを収集した。調査結果では、各サービスの基本情報、学習コンテンツの範囲、学習者サポート体制、躓き判定方法、解説提示方法、評価基準の可視化を比較・分析した。この分析結果を元に、サービスの強み・限界を評価し、リメディアル数学教育の効果を高める要因を明らかにした。実践への具体的示唆および今後の研究・開発の方向性を提示し、大学での数学リメディアル教育における個別最適化学習の重要性を強調した。departmental bulletin pape

Identification Experiment of Old and New 500-Yen Coins Using Simple Equipment with the Mahalanobis-Taguchi Method

本稿では、マハラノビス・タグチ法（MT法）を用いた新旧500円硬貨の判別実験の結果について報告する。 令和3年11月に日本国において、三代目の新500円硬貨の流通が開始されたが、対応済みの自動販売機の数は令和5年時点において、2～ 3割程度の数であり、センサー更新の必要性がある。MT法は、汎用的なパターン判別の手法であり、良品、不良の判別に活用されているところ、新旧500円硬貨の判別への適用可能性について実験を行った。 実験では、新旧500円硬貨の材質や電気的特性を基に判別を行った。実験の結果、MT法を適用して新旧500円硬貨を適切に判別できることが確認された。 MT法の汎用性が高い手法であることから、筆者が所属する航空整備学専攻の教育研究においても広く役立つと考え、本稿にて実験結果を報告する。今後、他の硬貨や航空整備分野での応用可能性についても検討していく。departmental bulletin pape

Introducing SDGs to an Academic English Program

This report aims to describe an activity which was trialed by the authors in the Academic English Program at Sojo University during the 2022/23 academic year. In 2021, Sojo University administration encouraged all departments to, where possible, include some focus on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in course curricula. The authors, who were responsible for teaching Academic English to students exclusively from the Department of Architecture, decided to use this opportunity to design and implement new activities focused on introducing several SDGs during the Academic Lectures unit of the course. At the end of the unit students were asked to complete a short questionnaire which aimed to measure the level of interest, usefulness, and difficulty of the SDG-focused activities. Responses to the survey indicate that students found the activities to be mostly useful and of interest to them, but somewhat difficult to complete. This report describes in detail the design and implementation of these activities and briefly provides suggestions for future iterations based on feedback from the survey.departmental bulletin pape

A Case Study on Ensuring Human Resources to Teach Youths About Semiconductors

競争力強化や社会課題の解決を図ることのできるデジタル人材の重要性が高まっている。加えて、熊本県はTSMCをはじめとした半導体企業の進出を契機として、デジタル人材の一つである半導体人材に重きを置き、人材確保と育成に向けた様々な取り組みが進められている。ただし、半導体人材育成を目的とした学習機会を設ける際、学習時間の確保、指導人材の育成と確保等のあり方に課題を持つ。ここで、指導人材の育成と確保に焦点を当てたとき、「授業をコントロールする講師に大学生を置くことによって、若年者への半導体教育を担う指導人材の確保へと帰着させられる」と仮説を立てられる。この仮説を検証するため、熊本県と協力して若年者への半導体理解促進に係る出前授業を実践した。そして、受講生へのアンケート調査を行い、本出前授業のあり方が半導体人材を育成する指導人材確保に寄与することを報告する。departmental bulletin pape
