Technology and the Preservation/End of Life
This chapter explores the ethics of when to use or not to use life-support technology from a biblical perspective. It does not address medical considerations as such, for medical technology is constantly advancing. Rather, it seeks to distill biblical principles for deciding when to use such technology and when it is moral to stop therapeutic treatment and move to palliative care. This chapter provides moral principles and guidance for making difficult decisions in questions of the use of life-support and decision-making in the context of end-of-life situations
Indexed Concatenation Notation: A Novel Way to Summarize Networks and Other Complex Systems
The indexed concatenation notation presented in this paper extends the concept of concatenation in a way similar to the extension of addition to the indexed sum, allowing compact representations of strings, lists, matrices, etc., having internal repetitive or describable structure. In particular, it allows the edge difference set list of any graphical network with a visible pattern to be summarized in an extremely compact and lossless way. Examples highlight the information compression of the technique and showcase its ability to represent complicated, infinite patterns in closed form

Perceived Anxiety In Students at Southern Adventist University*
This study aims to understand the relationship between test anxiety and family background, class difficulty, health, and environmental factors in college students. Exploring these connections can help us to understand the cause of test anxiety, which will, in turn, give students and professors an amplified understanding of the testing space. In conducting this study, we will understand if there is a correlation between students who experience test anxiety and any of the four previously mentioned factors (family background, class difficulty, health, and environment). Our data was collected from college students attending Southern Adventist University who regularly experience test-taking environments. This information was collected through a two-part participatory survey. The first part consisted of a QR code that we provided in a class before the testing session. This collected general demographics and required students to take a baseline anxiety test called the STAI, otherwise known as the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Second, a questionnaire was made to determine students’ perceived anxiety levels before and after the test. As predicted, our results suggest that there is a significant correlation between test anxiety and other environmental factors, family background, class difficulty, and health. Based on these findings, we conclude there are multiple factors influencing the development of test anxiety, which suggests more attention must be paid to the different situational factors that could contribute to anxiety to recognize the exacerbating effects of test anxiety on college students
Analyzing the Strength of the Amine Bond of Guanine: A computational approach*
The deamination of guanine is an event that can cause single point mutations. In this study, the strength of the amine bond was examined using DFT and B3LYP to map out the bond’s potential curves under conditions of various charges being imposed on the molecule. Such an approach yielded a few potential curves that do not exhibit the expected behavior and rather, show a drop in bond potential energy with increasing bond distance. This aspect of the bond behavior is thought to be associated with the fact that the bond investigated is prone to breaking
Dale Walters Living Memoirs Interview
Dale Walters shared stories from his long-term involvement in missionary work in Nicaragua, beginning in high school and continuing through college and into his professional life. He described practical responsibilities like vehicle maintenance, emergency transport, and managing the mission during political unrest. Dale emphasized how these experiences deepened his faith, strengthened his problem-solving skills, and shaped his character. He recounted moments of adversity—such as truck breakdowns, fires, and injuries—and highlighted God’s presence throughout. Now a teacher, Dale encourages young people to pursue mission work, viewing it as a powerful source of growth, purpose, and spiritual clarity.
*Content Warning: This interview includes references to medical emergencies, childbirth complications, infant loss, and community violence. Listener discretion is advised.
