Figure 5 Dataset - Monocyte circulation facilitates increased transmigration and adhesion compared to static conditions

    No full text
The dataset includes raw confocal images of live-labeled monocytes cultured with or without circulating flow and in the absence or presence of a chemoattractant protein in a microfluidic device. The prism file includes the final figure outline as well as the raw quantification expression values. The images can be analyzed in a software that enables 3D image analysis, such as Imaris. To quantify fluorescently labeled monocytes in confocal images, the Spots tool in Imaris was used to identify cells based on a specified diameter (10 um). Cells below the membrane were considered to be transmigrated. A fluorescent intensity threshold was determined and kept consistent across images for Spot identification. Quantified data was exported from Imaris and analyzed in GraphPad Prism. This dataset supports Fluid flow impacts endothelial-monocyte interactions in a model of vascular inflammatory fibrosis, published in Scientific Reports, Vol. 15, Iss. 3227, January 2025. </p

Storytelling, The Final Frontier: A Live, Interactive Let's Play! Breaking Boundaries with Video Games 2025 Keynote Talk April 25, 2025

    No full text
For as revolutionary as the written word and moving pictures have been in our ability to communicate and tell stories, they are not the final frontier of storytelling. Video games present an opportunity to grow our artistic and narrative abilities beyond passive means, by bringing the audience into the story itself. In this talk, to highlight some of the ways video games are breaking boundaries in storytelling, we'll play The Stanley Parable: a single player, indie, narrative-driven game about an office worker and his Narrator. Together, we'll discuss how video games are different storytellers, how those stories connect with audiences, and if, as Jane McGonigal says, "video games can make a better world."</p
