Sentiment analysis of Lithuanian texts using deep learning methods
We describe experiments in sentiment analysis of the Lithuanian texts using the deep learning methods: Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). Methods used with pre-trained Lithuanian neural word embeddings are tested with different pre-processing techniques: emoticons restoration, stop words removal, diacritics restoration/elimination. Despite the selected pre-processing technique, CNN was always outperformed by LSTM. Better results (reaching an accuracy of 0.612) were achieved with the undiacritized texts and undiacritized word embeddings. However, these results are still worse if compared to the ones obtained using Support Vector Machines or Naive Bayes Multinomial and with the frequencies of words as featuresKauno technologijos universitetasTaikomosios informatikos katedraVytauto Didžiojo universiteta

Content marketing decisions for the customer value creation in social networks: ‘Ilzenberg manor’ case
ISSN 2255-923X (online)This article presents theoretical and practical aspects of content marketing decisions for the customer value creation in social networks by using the case of the organic farm ʻIlzenberg manor’. Focus of this paper is to determine which content marketing decisions create the biggest value for the customer in social networks. The first part of the paper deals with theoretical insights into the content marketing decisions and their ability to create the customer value in social networks. Findings of theoretical analysis disclose that there are interfaces between content marketing, separate content marketing decisions and the customer value in the context of social networks. Respectively, it leads to an assumption that the usage of content marketing decisions can be valuable for the customer value creation in social networks. The second part of the paper focuses on the case analysis of the organic farm ‘Ilzenberg manor’. In order to determine which content marketing decisions create value for the customer in social networks, authors examine a correlation between separate content marketing decisions and consumer value indicators by using data from ʻIlzenberg manor’ Facebook page. The obtained results expose that not all content marketing decisions create value for the customer in social networks. Hence, it means that a selection of separate content marketing decisions in social networks can be made through the customer value perspective. The article ends with insights, conclusions, limitations and future research possibilitiesMarketingo katedraVadybos katedraVytauto Didžiojo universiteta

The development of street infrastructure in Kaunas during the 1920s and 1930s
This article analyzes the evolution of street infrastructure in Kaunas during the 1920s and 1930s. It examines this topic in the context of urban evolution, with an emphasis on the urban development processes. The author describes the main streets that were built and paved in Kaunas during this period and discusses street paving methods and the organization of paving labor. The article provides statistical information on the volume and dynamics of street paving, as well as on the main trends of street infrastructure development. It also introduces the main problems of street infrastructure during that time period. During the period of the first Republic of Lithuania (1918–1940), Kaunas experienced a significant urban transformation. The city’s territory grew sevenfold. The annexed regions were not urbanized and had hardly any street infrastructure. Therefore, their integration into the urban whole of the city was a long-term process that required many financial resources and was still not finished at the end of the 1930s. In the beginning of the 1920s, several streets in Kaunas were still paved with simple stones; the former fortress roads were covered with macadam; and sidewalks were made of wood. Until 1927, proprietors of premises in the city of Kaunas had to perform yearly repairs of street paving. In 1927, responsibility for paving the streets of Kaunas was given to the municipality. As a result, street paving labor quality improved, modern materials (stone setts, bitumen, silicate bricks, asphalt and others) began to be used, and the extent of paving activities increased. At the end of the 1930s, about 50 % of the total street network was paved in the city and pavements made of cement bricks began to replace wooden sidewalks. However, most of the streets still remained paved with simple field stonesIstorijos katedraVytauto Didžiojo universiteta

Shamanism, sanity and remoteness in Russia
The trek of a warrior shaman. In spring 2019, a Sakha (Yakut) shaman, Aleksandr Gabyshev, embarked on an 8,000 km trek from Yakutsk to Moscow. His stated goal was to ‘expel demon-Putin’ (izgnat’ Putina-demona) from the Kremlin and thus liberate the people of Russia. Drawing a cart with supplies and necessities, he slowly progressed along Siberian highways, camping on roadsides along the way. While initially, his journey attracted little attention beyond local cybernauts, by the end of the summer, word of Gabyshev’s campaign had spread far and wide. Gradually, people started joining his trek – some only briefly to chat and take a selfie, while others travelled from afar and sought him out along the way. Dutiful bloggers, fundraisers and impromptu managers emerged in the group, attracting further interest and support. By September, Sasha-shaman, as he is popularly known, had attracted the interest of the international media, from The New York Times to The Guardian. Within Russia, too, Gabyshev was under the spotlight. Predictably, however, it was online reports, blogs and social media that promulgated his story, while Russian television and state-run media mostly ignored it, possibly in an attempt to avoid drawing additional attention to his causeSocialinės antropologijos centrasVytauto Didžiojo universiteta
A multivariate hybrid stochastic differential equation model for whole-stand dynamics
The growth and yield modeling of a forest stand has progressed rapidly, starting from the generalized nonlinear regression models of uneven/even-aged stands, and continuing to stochastic differential equation (SDE) models. We focus on the adaptation of the SDEs for the modeling of forest stand dynamics, and relate the tree and stand size variables to the age dimension (time). Two different types of diffusion processes are incorporated into a hybrid model in which the shortcomings of each variable types can be overcome to some extent. This paper presents the hybrid multivariate SDE regarding stand basal area and volume models in a forest stand. We estimate the fixed- and mixed-effect parameters for the multivariate hybrid stochastic differential equation using a maximum likelihood procedure. The results are illustrated using a dataset of measurements from Mountain pine tree (Pinus mugo Turra)Miškų ir ekologijos fakultetasVytauto Didžiojo universiteta
