    Quelques remarques sur la notion de médiation en traduction

    The socio-cultural role of translators is undergoing rapid changes in the lives of societies affected by globalization. The objective of the article can be summed up in questioning the traditional role of the translator consisting, among other things, in what Jean Peeters (1999) calls “the mediation of the foreigner”. The question that arises, therefore, concerns the possibility of existence of the strangeness and relevance of this notion in the globalized world. The process of unifying a global market for cultural, symbolic and literary goods calls into question the need for mediation at the level of languages and cultures. The aim of the article is therefore to analyze from the sociolinguistic perspective new sociocultural roles that could assume the translator in the face of the unification process.The socio-cultural role of translators is undergoing rapid changes in the lives of societies affected by globalization.     Although the history of translation and its iconography mostly convey to us a vision of translation as an individual and solitary activity (Monti, 2018, p. 9), in Canada, which is officially bilingual and multicultural at the federal level, the practice of literary translation has recently increasingly taken collective forms. In the following paper, the analysis will be based on two examples of a collaboration between literary translator Arianne Des Rochers with Natasha Kanapé-Fontaine (for the book Islands of Decolonial Love/Cartographie de l’amour décolonial) and with Édith Bélanger (for the book A Short History of the Blockade/Une brève histoire des barricades), the two works written in English by Leanne Betasamosake Simpson, a leading figure in Canada’s Aboriginal resurgence.Although the history of translation and its iconography mostly convey to us a vision of translation as an individual and solitary activity (Monti, 2018, p. 9), in Canada, which is officially bilingual and multicultural at the federal level, the practice of literary translation has recently increasingly taken collective forms.     This article – focused on three plays that make up Marco Micone’s dramatic trilogy (Gens du silence, Addolorata, Déjà l’agonie) – consists of two parts. First, it outlines the historical-political environment of Quebec in the context of immigration and identity issues.     The article examines the role of food in shaping the Italian national identity based on the example of Italian football language in the most-read Italian newspaper entitled “La Gazzetta dello Sport” (www.gazzetta. it). At first, the concept of identity is analyzed and then its particular shades in the case of Italy and the attitude of Italians toward food, its importance and widespread occurrence within the entire country will be discussed. In fact, the food is a factor which seems to be a bonding element for all Italians and a means of expressing the current Italian national identity. The author identifies it as the Italian culinary identity.     Didattica inclusiva dell’italiano L2/LS tra lingua e identità di genere

    In some cases, the teaching of Italian as an L2/LS language continues to perpetuate gender stereotypes, sexist or discriminatory elements. When this is not the case, however, it often fails to offer those approaching the study of Italian the tools and materials to address relevant issues and themes in the contemporary debate such as gender identity and the importance of using inclusive language. Aware that the didactics of Italian can be a fundamental tool for building a context of coexistence of differences, we want to reflect on the Italian situation and present some didactic proposals that can allow to combine in the Italian classroom a language education a reflection on gender identity.In some cases, the teaching of Italian as an L2/LS language continues to perpetuate gender stereotypes, sexist or discriminatory elements.     “Ahora, cansado el cuerpo”. Exceso de vida en Diario de una vida breve de Juan Manuel Silvela Sangro

    During almost ten years, between 1949 and 1958, Juan Manuel Silvel Sangro writes a series of notebooks that cover this period of absolute rest that he experiences following the diagnosis of a rare congenital heart disease. This writing exercise originates the posthumously edited Diario de una vida breve (1967), a melancholic record of the convalescent everyday life, where life is barely rooted in the diary’s time, whilst it seeks a kind of salvation. Even though Silvela Sangro’s life could be considered a failed one, he presents it as being “complete”, insofar its textual representation is permeated by a series of specific qualities: ‘passivity’, seen as a mode of existence that opens up the opportunity of confession in front of the ‘ontological helplessness’ (Zambrano); inoperosità, understood as a supreme happiness in the ethical exercise of self-contemplation and recognition (Spinoza/Agamben); and ‘care of the self’ as a practice of freedom, that, through intimate writing, points to the process of subjectivation (Foucault).     Translation activity is traditionally perceived as monomodal, focused on the written or spoken word. However, the evolution of contemporary societies, increasingly visual, often pushes the translator to work on a multimodal product, where language is only one of the modes of communication, hence the emergence of models of multimodal translation. The present contribution studies the literary multimodal translation model based on the album Kłopot by Iwona Chmielewska, world-renowned author and illustrator. The contribution hopes to demonstrate the challenges and opportunities of the multimodal translation workshop, seen as a growing professional activity in today’s multimodal societies.Translation activity is traditionally perceived as monomodal, focused on the written or spoken word.
