    Home Exercise Program Adherence Post-Stroke

    No full text
Stroke (CVA) rehabilitation focuses on helping clients improve their daily occupational performance. Facilitating changes in occupational performance is challenging because therapy may be limited due to external factors. Therefore, activities outside of the clinic strive to enhance occupational performance through various techniques. One method to overcome potential therapy session limitations are home exercise programs (HEPs). Home exercise programs have shown to be effective in motor recovery and improved occupational performance. However, there are many barriers to adherence to HEPs for clients that have experienced a stroke (Scorrano et al., 2018, Simpson et al., 2013). To promote adherence and positive outcomes, occupational therapists should understand the client’s barriers and enablers before implementing HEPs. Adherence to HEPs during therapy and after discharge is imperative for consistent progress throughout a client’s recovery. A literature review was conducted to critically appraise the topic. The results of the literature review support the positive effects of adhering to HEPs. Through this research, adherence to HEPs has been shown to promote overall well-being and improve quality of life. Given the limited research on this topic, further investigation is needed to assess the effectiveness of adhering to HEPs

AI and ethical use implication for research

    Get PDF
Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly integrated into our daily lives, especially for students. While there are valid debates about the advantages and disadvantages of students using AI for their assignments, such as comparing tools like Grammarly and ChatGPT, one aspect that often goes unexamined is the information sources that AI relies on. AI is now integrated into search engines like Google and Bing, making it accessible to everyone. Additionally, with the emergence of AI research tools like ResearchRabbit, AI\u27s role in everyday activities continues to expand beyond easily accessible resources such as subscription databases. AI is now an optional component of library subscription databases like JSTOR and the library discovery tool Primo. This session will discuss the ethical implications of AI and the sources it searches to provide students with search results. We will share our experiences evaluating the search results generated by the AI option for our discovery tool, specifically the sources and search methodology of the AI and whether those searches effectively retrieve results from our current subscriptions. We will also discuss how the sources available to the AI influence the accuracy of the search results relative to what our users can access and why we have not enabled it for our users. Finally, we’ll look at how coursework, specifically student research, will be impacted by these integrative tools once they become a norm on most databases used for research and scholarship

Nueva metodología de análisis para determinar el delito ambiental de ecocidio por glifosato en cultivos permanentes de coca en Colombia

    No full text

Enhancing teacher preparation: Assist Faculty with Navigating emerging technologies

    No full text
With the rapid advancement of technology, it is essential to equip teacher candidates with the confidence and skills needed to navigate emerging technologies. By doing so, they can better prepare students for the opportunities and challenges of an ever-evolving world. To achieve this, targeted professional development is urgently needed to strengthen teacher educators\u27 technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge (TPACK), ensuring that future teachers are well-prepared for technology-rich classrooms. This panel discussion explores the implementation of a collaborative TPACK framework to promote equitable technology integration in teacher education programs. Panelists—including faculty members who teach teaching methods courses and an Educator Preparation Program (EPP) faculty representative from the Department of Education—will share best practices, challenges, and strategies for effectively integrating digital tools across diverse learning environments. The discussion will highlight the vital role of collaboration between methods course instructors and technology experts in designing and implementing technology-enhanced instructional practices that align with the TPACK framework. Attendees will gain actionable strategies for implementing collaborative technology integration in teacher preparation programs. This session will also offer opportunities to connect with peers and explore ways to integrate emerging technologies, such as AI and interactive digital tools, to enhance instruction. By the end, participants will leave with practical ideas and resources to strengthen teacher readiness in digital literacy, ensuring future educators are equipped to use technology equitably and effectively to support all learners

What exactly does it mean to be a Lasallian Coach and how does it fit with the values of Lewis University. Discussion that compares and connects what it means to be a Lasallian Coach and the core mission values of Lewis University - Knowledge, Fidelity, Wisdom, Justice, and Association. How can we utilize this connection to create a program mission statement, team core values, and standards that are utilized to drive behavior, development, and success. (This part of the presentation is intended to tie together our values and how they can shape how we do our work). What are the traits of Lasallian athletes and coaches and how does it direct our coach/player interactions, program plans and most importantly the culture we build within the program. Discussion that specifies what is different about Lasallian Athletes and Coaches and how they utilizes these traits to create an amazing culture within the program, getting players to buy in and how it impacts anyone that encounters the program. How this methodology crosses over into academics. (This part of the presentation is intended to give concrete examples of how their program builds culture and how that culture permeates the program and the surrounding community). How can faculty and staff both utilize what it means to be a Lasallian Coach as a method for developing students. What lessons has she learned as a Lasallian Coach that can cross over to the academic world. As faculty work to develop our students, can we provide them a framework for a different setting (classroom), what are the similarities to our classroom (court or field) and can these shared values and traits work across campus to impact our students. (This part of the presentation is intended to bridge the gap between Academics and Athletics on a college campus. How can the methods of running an Athletics program translate to the classroom)
