The international collaboration of pharmacy journal editors (ICPJE) formally constituted to foster quality around clinical and social pharmacy practice research publications
The Granada statements were a result of the need to strengthen clinical, social, and administrative pharmacy practice as an area of knowledge that translates into practice, research, and policy. As a response, a group of clinical and social pharmacy practice journal editors launched an initiative in Granada in 2022 to discuss ways to improve the quality of publications in this area, which culminated in the Granada statements. Eighteen statements were developed, clustered into six main domains:1) the appropriate use of terminology; 2) developing impactful abstracts; 3) having the required peer reviews; 4) preventing journal scattering; 5) more effective and wiser use of journal and article performance metrics; and 6)authors' selection of the most appropriate pharmacy practice journal to submit their work. The full Granada statements have been published in 14 journals. These pioneering statements are rooted in similar endeavors undertaken by scholars in other health professions groups, fostering the concept of interdisciplinary consensus and advancing scientific paradigm
Promoting global collaboration to improve bioaerosol exposure assessment and understanding of associated health impacts: outcomes from a series of workshops
These workshops and associated work were funded by the Indoor/outdoor bioaerosols interface and relationships network (BioAirNet), funded by UK Research and Innovations grant (NE/V002171/1). C.V. acknowledges the Foundation for Science and Technology/ Portuguese Ministry of Science, Technology, and Higher Education national support through UIDB/05608/2020 and UIDP/05608/2020. M.C.F. acknowledges funding from the UK Medical Research Council and the Wellcome Trust. He is a fellow in the CIFAR Fungal Kingdoms program. M.J.D.C. acknowledges funding from the UK Natural Environmental Research Council (UKRI) that supports the SPF Wave II Research project ‘RESPIRE’ (NE/W002264/1).We are surrounded, in both indoor and outdoor environments, by air containing particles of biological origin (bioaerosols). We constantly inhale them, and, depending upon their size, they deposit in different parts of our airways. Despite their ubiquitous nature and our constant exposure, bioaerosol diversity and composition of the environment are not well characterized, and we understand little about which bioaerosols we are exposed to and how this impacts our health, either positively or negatively. Indoor/Outdoor Bioaerosols Interface and Relationships Network (BioAirNet), a Clean Air Programme-funded network, has recognized the need for the bioaerosol community to reflect on the current challenges facing bioaerosol exposure assessment and the determination of the associated cellular/molecular responses driving specific health outcomes. A series of online workshops for the bioaerosol community were hosted by BioAirNet in September 2022, which aimed to bring together global expertise to discuss the current challenges impeding improved assessment of bioaerosol exposure and understanding of the downstream cellular and molecular mechanisms driving health outcomes by discussing these challenges; considering where we need to be, where we are now and how we get there. Professional facilitation was key to their success, enabling the multidisciplinary bioaerosol community to explore and address these challenges within a focused and productive environment to prioritize themes and agree on action plans for continued momentum following the workshops. These themes were as follows: (1) conceptual model; (2) stakeholder mapping; (3) knowledge transfer; (4) writing project, and (5) conference-type event, collectively covering research, knowledge mobilization, and networking activities. A subsequent in-person follow-up workshop was held in November 2023. It provided an opportunity to share progress on the five themes, critique what had already been done, and act as a launchpad to progress the actions further. Delegates also had the opportunity to share ongoing or upcoming work, particularly projects requiring input from others, to encourage collaborative working and sharing expertise. The use of facilitated workshops is a valuable tool for all scientific communities to collectively explore and successfully address key issues within their field
Color evaluation of pre-shaded monolithic zirconia restorations on different substrates and resin cements
This study evaluated if the material, the substrate, and the cement have no influence on the color of pre-shaded monolithic zirconia crowns. The specific effect of the cement over each substrate/brand group was also studied. Two commercial brands of zirconia, Amann Girrbach (AG) and Zirkonzahn (ZZ), were used to produce crowns that were placed over three substrates (natural tooth, zirconia, metal) using two different resin cements (Ivoclar AG (Shaan, Liechtenstein) Neutral and Light) or glycerol (as the control) (n = 10). Lightness (L*), chroma (C*), hue (h*), and color difference (ΔE) of each crown were measured using a VITA Easyshade V® spectrophotometer (VITA Zahnfabrik, Bad Säckingen, Germany), following the standardized reference. Since normality was not verified by the Shapiro–Wilk test, data were statistically analyzed using the Kruskal–Wallis test for group comparisons and Tukey’s post-hoc test for multifactorial variance analysis (α = 0.05). ΔE medians ranged between 1.3 in the AG/zirconia substrate/glycerol group and 8.0 in the ZZ/metal substrate/light cement group. In general, lower values of ΔE were recorded in AG restorations compared to ZZ (p 0.05) in the AG brand, while in the ZZ group, light cement showed higher ΔE values (p < 0.05). The final color of the restorations was significantly influenced by the zirconia brand, substrate type, and resin cement. Light cement led to greater color variations, particularly in ZZ restorations. These findings highlight the importance of material selection in achieving esthetically pleasing zirconia restorations
Ethical goals as a criterion of creation: the Czechoslovak Theatre on a String in the 1980s
O grupo entendia o teatro como uma ferramenta em que as performances eram imbuídas de objetivos éticos mais do que estéticos.ABSTRACT - In the 1980s, the Czechoslovak alternative theatre company Divadlo na provázku (in English: Theatre on a String) explored the possibilities of combining multiple art forms and crossing the strictly defined boundaries of individual artistic disciplines. The starting point was their artistic programme of ‘irregularity’, which was reflected in all components of theatre production, the staging process, and the organisation of the ensemble. This case study presents a specific theatre project from autumn 1985 called The 1985 Project, which moved in between literature and theatre. The focus is on the scenic sketch The Monument (premièred on 30 November 1985), which was performed alongside an art piece by sculptor Jan Šimek. The essay considers the company’s functioning within a totalitarian communist regime characterised by censorship and describes the strategies necessary to achieve the première performance in front of an audience. The ensemble understood theatre as a tool in which individual performances were directed towards ethical rather than aesthetic goals
This essay explores the integration of exhibition narratives and digital art in exhibition curation to promote gender equality in sports, highlighting activist curatorship as a tool for reflection and social transformation. It examines the role of museums as communication platforms, the intersection of gender equality and media art, and the impact of digital technologies on immersive narratives. The exhibition WOMEN IN SPORTS, part of the Parallel 3 project, exemplifies this approach by combining factual elements, such as historical milestones and gender statistics, with fictional components, including AI-generated characters and interactive installations. This narrative fusion aims to raise awareness among visitors, fostering dialogue and empathy. The collaboration between curation, technology, and art reinforces the importance of creativity in shaping transformative exhibitions that go beyond passive contemplation to stimulate awareness and social change
Strategies for increased adherence to the Mediterranean or healthy diet in university food services: a systematic review
Funded through the Project “MEDDIETMENUS4CAMPUS - Promoting stakeholder adherence to Mediterranean Diet on Campus through menu interventions and social marketing strategies”, within the scope of Transnational Cooperation – Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA) supported by the HORIZON 2020 Program and Foundation for Science and Technology through national funds through FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P., under the project PRIMA/0008/2022/FCT and PRIMA/0009/2022/FCT.The Mediterranean diet (MD) has been recognised as a healthy and sustainable diet model. Despite this, current eating habits diverge significantly from established dietary recommendations, namely the MD among young university students. The eating habits of young people are characterised by a high consumption of energy-dense foods and a low consumption of vegetables and fruit. Thus, university canteen food services are essential in promoting a healthy and sustainable diet. This systematic review aimed to identify the strategies for promoting adherence to the MD and healthy diets in Higher Education food service. This systematic review was based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Of the 39 studies that were retrieved, all focused on strategies to improve healthy eating, and none specifically used the term "Mediterranean". Studies were conducted in different countries worldwide. Architectural nudges, discounts on healthy food and nutritional information were identified as successful strategies, especially among females and students with higher nutrition education. A combination of nudging strategies in food service is a promising way to promote healthier food habits
Geographical variation in lung function: results from the multicentric cross-sectional BOLD study
Spirometry is used to determine what is "unusual" lung function compared with what is "usual" for healthy non-smokers. This study aimed to investigate regional variation in the forced vital capacity (FVC) and in the forced expiratory volume in one second to FVC ratio (FEV1/FVC) using cross-sectional data from all 41 sites of the multinational Burden of Obstructive Lung Disease study. Participants (5,368 men; 9,649 women), aged ≥40 years, had performed spirometry, had never smoked and reported no respiratory symptoms or diagnoses. To identify regions with similar FVC, we conducted a principal component analysis (PCA) on FVC with age, age2 and height2, separately for men and women. We regressed FVC against age, age2 and height2, and FEV1/FVC against age and height2, for each sex and site, stratified by region. Mean age was 54 years (both sexes), and mean height was 1.69 m (men) and 1.61 m (women). The PCA suggested four regions: 1) Europe and richer countries; 2) the Near East; 3) Africa; and 4) the Far East. For the FVC, there was little variation in the coefficients for age, or age2, but considerable variation in the constant (men: 2.97 L in the Far East to 4.08 L in Europe; women: 2.44 L in the Far East to 3.24 L in Europe) and the coefficient for height2. Regional differences in the constant and coefficients for FEV1/FVC were minimal (<1%). The relation of FVC with age, sex and height varies across and within regions. The same is not true for the FEV1/FVC ratio.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
